We found Mr. J’s after being let down by our highly acclaimed local public school and a private school that promised accommodation and inclusivity (but instead fostered soul-shattering bullying). Dysgraphia, Asynchronous Development, lagging motor skills, ADD and social isolation made school increasingly difficult for our son to navigate. After nearly five years in the traditional system, our formerly-outgoing boy had become withdrawn, depressed, and was shutting down academically. Our family was stressed out and exhausted from the daily effort to keep things together.

The transformation of our son — and our home life — began immediately upon starting at Mr. J’s. Our boy rediscovered his love for learning and his self-esteem began to return. The small school size, lack of bullying, and ability to study at his own pace gave him the time and space he needed to develop. Mr. J balanced humor and firmness. The expectations were clear. The system was easy to understand, and helped our son develop the executive skills needed for future academic success. The experiences there gave our son enough confidence to “try again” at a larger school, where he continues to blossom.

His trajectory was in a downward spiral. Now, the sky’s the limit. That would not have happened without Mr. J’s.
